Zuma opened up in Dubai in August 2008. It is located in DIFC and you have to take a lift to get up to the restaurant. The venue is hip and trendy and when we came, on a Wednesday, it was fully booked. This is the 4th Zuma after establishing in London, Hong Kong and Istanbul.
Zuma received the award for best Japanese restaurant in Dubai so I was suprised and suspicious not to see anyone from the Japanese community on the day we went there. The crowd is more the hip in crowd of Dubai than Japanese coming for real Japanese food.
Our waiter was new since only a few months in Dubai and Zuma but still had good knowledge about the menu.
The sushi was nicely prepared in small pieces. The highlight of the night was the black cod which we really recommend.
If you want true authentic Japanese food I would not go here, if you want a funky place with hip people, tasty food and if your wallet allows you then Zuma is for you.
